2017 Student/early career day at GOSH

The 2017 Student/early career day at the Oregon Governor’s Occupational Safety and Health Conference created an opportunity for those ages 18-24 to learn more about careers in safety and health. Some of the attendees included members of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Student Chapters based at both Mt. Hood Community College and Oregon State University. The attendees had opportunities to attend the conference keynote and opening session, two different panels about the different roles and jobs in the field, a speed-networking workshop, the exhibit hall, and the evening Women in Safety Engineering (WISE) reception.

All of the volunteers and mentors were impressed with the interest and excitement expressed by the attendees, and are hopeful that the field of occupational safety and health will continue to be seen as a terrific opportunity for future work and careers.
