What We Want
O[yes] is an organization made up of adults who really care about protecting teens from on-the-job injuries. But it’s been a while since we were in high school, so that’s why we’re reaching out to you! We’re looking for high-quality videos or graphic designs that communicate our message in a way that really speaks to high school teens (especially those who are already working or who plan to get a job soon).
Creating an effective video or graphic design takes time. Submissions that have won awards in the past were creative, positive, relevant to other high school teens, and demonstrated a good understanding of what we are trying to accomplish. Think of this as an opportunity to create an “advertisement” that our O[yes] member organizations could use in our ongoing efforts to promote safety and health for young workers.
Before you begin, take our online Safety Awareness Training to get a solid understanding of what the training is all about, and then come up with your own special video or graphic design “ad” that encourages teens to also take that training. We’re giving you freedom to come up with your own tagline, theme, or key message as long as it meets all the rules and encourages other teens to take the online training.
Visit out our Resources tab (above) to learn more about young worker safety and health, and to see examples of past winning submissions. As you look at prior years, remember that this is the first year we’ve given our contestants the freedom to choose your own tagline, theme, or key message, but these past winners can give you insights into what worked well enough to earn their place as a finalist or a winner.
