We know it may feel like a tough time to get a job if you are a young worker. Whether this is your first job or the ideal job you are hoping to find, now is a good time to think about how to better set yourself up as a top candidate.

One thing we know is that employers want to hire someone who is safety conscious. We also know that while a lot of things about workplace safety are learned “on the job,” there are some basic tips and facts that are true to all jobs, and that might even help you in a job interview or in volunteer work you do.

Do you have a spare forty five minutes? Want to build up your resume? Now is a great time to take the Oregon Young Employee Safety Online Safety Awareness Training. All you need is an internet connection as this free training can be taken on a computer, tablet or phone. It doesn’t all have to be finished in one sitting, and once you finish it you can print out a certificate to display. Our tip? Add the name of this training to your application, resume or cover letter when you apply for a job. Help that next employer understand that you are not only serious about trying to secure the job, but that you are committed to being a safe worker too.

Let us know what you think after you complete the training! We’d love to hear from you. What did you learn that you didn’t know before? Are you an employer who has other tips? Contact us here or on FaceBook.
